ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME Traditions....are those traditions like....Baptism, Weddings, Missions, Births, Eagle Scouts, etc.
Wedding
(By Kimberly) My daughter just got married, so I wanted to share some of our wedding traditions. Our family has some wonderful traditions surrounding weddings. We have a temple shower for the bride-to-be, where we each contribute some money toward her temple clothes and then give her clothes to her that evening. We have a yummy dessert, and we each share our feelings/stories/testimonies of the temple. It becomes a very sacred family testimony meeting, and helps the bride to feel all of the support and love she has from the women in our family.
The week before the wedding all of the girls in our family go for pedicures. It is such fun bonding time.
The day before, we all get together to help with flowers. We make corsages, boutonnieres, bouquets and floral arrangements for the tables. My son makes beautiful flower crowns for little girls. It is so fun to work together to make beautiful things.
I love family weddings and the joining of families. The evening before or between the sealing and the reception, we have a family dinner to get to know all the new family members. It is such a special time.

Graduation
( By Shannon) High school graduation we give them a floral lei to rock!
Baptism/Wedding/Graduation/Birthdays
(By Krissy) At 8 years old I make them a book with their baptism pictures and notes from family. At 12 they are responsible to do their own laundry. At 16 we throw a surprise party. At 18 I make a video of pictures and significant music from their life. For graduation I plan to make t-shirt quilts from all their activities and sports.
Baptism
(By Shannon) When each of our children are baptized we give them a white towel with their names embroidered on it in their favorite color to dry off after they’re baptized.
(By Andrea) This tradition began when I was growing up and we chose to continue it with our children. For their baptisms we give them a new set of scriptures and a scripture case. Up until this point they have had the cheaper sets. They always look forward to getting their very own "Grown up" set to use for seminary and missions.

Birth
(By Andrea) When our twin boys were born and in the NICU they were each given a "beanie baby" to lay on their chest to help hold their pacifiers. We have continued that tradition with each of our other 3 children. As they get older we make them a plate with their animal and name on it.
Turning 8
(By Emilee) Our favorite tradition by far is when our children turn 8 we take them on a trip with just mom and dad to Disneyland! We have 5 kids and next year, 2017, our youngest will turn 8. It will be our last single child Disney trip. It has been so much fun doing this with each child. We do a beach day and two days at the Disney parks. It gives us fun, quality time with each child. We make amazing memories and then I make a photo book for each child of their special trip.
