"Dear Carleen, I am not actually requesting a speaking engagement, just wanted to send you a quick personal message and wasn’t sure how to, so going through this method.
My husband and I took your PP class when our first child was just two. She will be our first to leave home and head off to BYUI in a couple weeks!! So truly time does fly. It’s our first experience having one leave the “nest”! Of course this makes us quite sentimental, but honestly my thoughts led me to your many amazing classes which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed as I think of her leaving us. There are times in parenting where one of us would stop and use Carleen-isms, like asking the other “are you “helicopter” parenting?” Or “is that a referee or a coach talking?” Then I ask now if I have done my job in pulling in the reigns enough while she was young and then allowing her privileges to open up as she becomes spiritually responsible as an ADULT. I feel excited for her adventures and my husband and I feel GRATEFUL to you for the life lessons that we’ve truly given us to apply at home for 16 years! I hope our three children have grown in our home in a way th at they will be respectful loving adults. I feel like the main thing I have always relied back on is the legs of the sturdy table. Am I doing my temple, prayers, FHE, scriptures? And then I regroups myself and commit to do these things even if just one at a time with exactness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! We will always love the lessons learned from you and to feel like we can do this!
