WEEKLY Traditions....are those traditions that you do once a week with your family.  Sometimes we don't think about them being traditions because they are just part of our "normal" routine.

Date Night

(By Bethany) Date Night - Although this involves specifically my husband and I, our kids know that every Friday night is our date night. This is designated time for my husband and I to have time to focus on us and strengthening our relationship, an opportunity to connect as often throughout the week we see each other in passing. It is also a chance for our children to recognize the importance of taking this time together. Sometimes we go out, other times we have an in-house date. Our two older children take turns watching our youngest and we pay them for their time. We haven't always had a consistent date night, but since implementing it, it's been awesome!

Sunday Journal

(By Anonymous): Another tradition I do is I have a journal for each child that I try to write in weekly on Sunday about things that happened that week with the child or just feelings of love I have for them. I pull them out occasionally and read to them a passage or two. They love it and it's amazing the things you forget over the years but it reminds me like it was just yesterday!! Love Traditions!

Family Home Evening Notebooks

(By Andrea):  We created FHE notebooks for the year.  On Sunday we decorated the notebooks with paper, lace, stamps, stickers, etc.  They made their notebooks their own.  Then on Monday I had them bring their notebooks to FHE and we glued a picture in of a treasure map (scroll down to scripture chase).  Then I gave my children a challenge for the week.  The first week we were discussing prayer.  So their challenge was to write down one General Conference talk with the page and speaker and write down 2 prayer scriptures or stories about prayer.  We update them every week with our lessons for that week.  We will do a new notebook every year.

Sunday

(By Andrea)
We have "raid the pantry" for dinner.  We get to put together platters of finger foods (cheese, olives, crackers, pretzels, carrots, cucumbers, apples, oranges, anything) and eat in the family room while we watch a movie as a family.  This is a real treat because food is only allowed in the kitchen/dining room and never anywhere else in the house.

Pizza

(By Cristi) I love pizza so much that we have a tradition to make pizza each Friday! My two year old son helps with making the dough and putting the toppings on! It's amazing how many ways there are to make pizza! We both love the process and moments spent together getting the pizza ready and watching it cook in the oven. Plus the next day we can eat left overs for lunch! Yum Yum
